Supposedly it should have been out this month considering his pace and promises. I'd reckon no more than 2 months though, and that's like the worst case scenario.
Apparently the creator isn't good on the programming end and the sprites are slowing his progress down.
they're pretty active on their twitter and patreon which they do many other art projects outside of Sylving but here's a recent post of the game tho Sylving new font text
Agnarr is cute but something feels off when he smiles or opens his mouth and I don't know why. Now of course this is not hate on the sprite artist, it just looks a little derpy or something. I think its cute though. Aside from that little nitpick the game is amazing especially for it being the first build, I can't believe there are so many animated thing.
hi there ^^ yeah, the smiles were a little off. I made a slight change but he looks better now. thank you for the comment about it! I hope you'll enjoy chapter 2 when it comes out in hopefully a few weeks.
This looks very promising. I'm sucker for stories where you travel to different world as it allows you to learn things about the world itself without it feeling shoehorned. Plus I always enjoy what if scenarios.
This feels a bit like Far Beyond the World but so far it feels like this has better pacing and less mewling from the protagonist. Yes, he is frightened and upset but the story is still carried forward and he is not stuck into single room for months, so me likes.
I'm just hoping it doesn't devolve into a situation where the whole plot is centered around the protagonist as some sort of mythic savior. I always enjoy more the "unfortunate sod getting pushed into events beyond his control for laughs of some trickster figure" stories - and the beginning with the old witch felt like this might be one.
I'm looking forward to more updates. It will be interesting to see him adjust to being a lion and explore the town and the world... hopefully there will be more updates!
Check my itch.io page where I'm hoarding all of the possible alterniteves to Adastra and FBTW there are on itch.io, you might find something that fits to your tastes!
hmm I would recommend "Roads yet traveled" by CryptidDog. Um you end up in space in another galaxy and There are 3 dogs you end up working with eventually. and "Wayfinder" by Lavan. in this one you encounter 3 wolves and depending on which one you pick you do travel to another world but the method involves dreaming.
You might enjoy Hero's Advent. It's thematically "stranger saves the world" but I feel it's pretty well paced. You are still very much a hero in training in current update but there's a decent amount of changes in scenery. I just wish I could choose to boink both Max and Rai in it. Preferably at the same time.
If you like FBTW pacing you might also like the Taste of Fire. The human character is native but pretty much a tabula rasa. I almost skipped it because of the slow start, but I feel it gets better as you go. You still have a situation where the MC is stuck in the same room for a long time and then turns from pushover to competent pretty much overnight, so a bit of disconnect there. It's way slower than the Hero's Advent.
Orveia is also a human in strange world themed but the game is more like adventuring/exploration game. A bit like the Outland Wanderer where the MC is a goat... I mean dragon offworlder. There's story in both but it's not a 100% linear and it puts a lot of focus on exploration.
Then there are tons of others I like but don't fit into the theme at all. Some more like adventuring games, others story focused, and a lot of sex romp ones.
Liking the concept so far. Can't wait to learn more about the world and characters.
Artwork is bautifully done. 9.9/10. I get the thick style isn't for everyone but that does not mean it is a terrible quality. On the contrary, you seem to know how to make it work because usually it can be artistically unappealing unless that is your specific taste. This is actually cute and cuddly. Good work.
As for the writing... Something about it just feels off somehow. I felt like sentences were quite short. It makes characters seem unconvincing with their motives IMO if you can just rush through things like that. For example, Aron the MC only concern was the issue of species when he finds the "werewolf" and leaves off at that, despite the writer having the opportunity to explain Agnarr a bit more. The MC also has a (relatively) calm reaction to finding himself covered in fur and sporting some kind of lump on his face. If he is the calm type, I would have expected him to be more rational and come up with better theories than LARPers, but as said, the author is just speeding through everything that I (and readers?) dont have a frame of mind or emotional state of the MC much. He even plans to go back to the human world. A question I want answered is why would he go back looking like a lion? Does he think going back will change him into a human? Or is he just too panicked that he forgets he is a lion all together? I think the author is missing many chances to explain things from a deeper point. And as far as I can tell, there is no underlying narratives to justify witholding some of this information from the readers, with the exception that Agnarr tells the MC to nod or shake his head if he prefers not to speak. That was a cool way of saving what Udyrs and Sylvings are for a better time.
So far the plot makes sense and seems believable yet entertaining, and I have no issue with the sequence of events... On an imagination level everything seems great. However there exists a lot of opportunities to delve a bit more into their emotions, motivations, and personalities of the characters. As for their physical characteristics the author did quite well and lingered on them with the same amount of time we spent staring at them, though the writer could have done just a little more for Agnarr IMO so we can establish that he is someone important and not to be brushed off.
This is great. It seems like it could use copy-editing. There are little mistakes, but there are also places that show signs of not quite communicating the intended idea. An outside eye who has a good idea of what is trying to be communicated can be very helpful. I love some of the hinted at lore, and the art is looking top notch. Great work!
i read visual novels as a hobby! furry vns especially. so far i like the plot of this! it feels familiar to another one ive read i believe, but im not sure how, maybe just a familiar feeling to some other ones ive read! this FEELS new tho. even if its familiar its still new uncharted land and storys to be made! im very excited for the updates. the music is soft and uninterrupting. a problem with some vns is the music being so overpowering you cant focus on reading. even if i have the volume up, i can still read uninterupted. just taking a minute to appreciate the music and continuing. the cg's of aron ( default mc name ) are very detailed and interesting. even animated in one if im right! the way he is designed is an aspect i like. usually if a main character is turned into something it just looks... strange and unnerving. but this mc transformation feels fluid. visually appealing. even if he never turns back, he will still be a beautiful lion boy! and agnarr is a very kind and loving character. i cant wait to see more of his personality form along with mc! i cant wait to see the art style develop. the writing. and this story.
First, I hope we get an Android version. Second, this is a great isekai vn I've seen and no doubt it will be way better than FBTW! I love to see where the story will go!

I'm sure your busy, but a devlog of progress and/or reasons for holdup would be nice to ease tension of worrying! :3

I kinda like it but holy shit Agnarr is thick. I even scared to imagine how inevitable nsfw scenes with him would look like...
